Pre-Visit

Even though it was our first time visiting Rumah Victory Children & Youth Home, they welcomed us with full of joy, love and happiness. At first I felt worried that I would not be able to understand and communicate with them as I was informed that most of them at the Home are Mandarin speaking. However, the person in charge of the Home, Mr. Loh was being adaptable and considerate as he started speaking and explaining in English. I was very keen in paying attention to what Mr. Loh was conveying as most of the matter that he talked about was realistic. Moreover, I learnt that there are various ways to educate children and teenagers to a correct pathway that would lead them to attain success. After listening to Mr. Loh, I understood that not everyone are fortunate and we should contribute to our community. When we were at the Home, we got to spend time with some of the kids as they were very friendly and they value attachment. I also got to know about children’s lifestyle and daily routine at a Home. Clarifying doubts and asking questions are important to me, thus, I took the chance to ask some questions about the children’s education and their normal activity at the Home. Personally, this pre-visit helped me to become an open minded person and made me think broader.
