As we arrived, the other team which was supposed to carry out their activity was not there yet. After communicating with the team leader of the other team, my group members and I decided to carry on with our activity first. I learnt that inter team communication is as important as intra team communication when it comes to collaborative events such as this event. In addition, I also learnt that critical thinking skills should be developed and used during problematic period of time. We delegated task equally among our team members in order to arrange all the materials for the DIY Bag Stamping activity. I realized that multitasking can be considered as a skill and it helps in improving effectiveness and efficiency. Once the children started stamping their bags using the stamps we created, I felt happy looking at the outcome as the stamps were looking nice and turned out well. I was a little bit worried as I could not communicate with the younger children who only speaks in Mandarin. However, the members from the other group who could speak Mandarin were being very helpful in communicating and helping the younger children to stamp on their cotton bags. While the stamping activity was going on, I quickly brought another three members from my group to prepare for the Water Balloon activity. Some of the children who were done with their bag stamping got excited looking at the balloons and wanted to play right away, however, I explained to them in a good manner that they will get to play once all the other activities are done. I have learnt that patience is important in handling kids’ behaviour and character. Once all the activities were done, we started transporting the balloons filled with water to the playground nearby Rumah Victory. Unfortunately, it started drizzling and the rain got slightly heavier. Thus, I decided not to carry out the Water Balloon activity after discussing with team members as health of the children is more important to us. From this, I learnt that acceptance should be practised by everyone as we will not always get to do things the way we want. However, I started thinking about another plan and I decided to keep the balloons at the Home so that the children could play with it some other time. I learnt that cleanliness should be maintained well, thus, we cleaned the table once everyone was done with the stamping. Moreover, newspapers were recycled. At last all my team members and I took turns to give goodie bags to the children. I also understood that equality should be practised. Even though some of children could not participate in the activity, we provided them goodie bags as well. I learnt that we should not waste food and we should be thankful for having food to eat every day. Besides that, we should always be timeline based.
